Klamath Falls, Ore. (May 18, 2021) - Klamath County has received an additional $602,773.34 in funding to support Oregon businesses who have been impacted by COVID-19. These funds were allocated to counties to distribute to businesses who have been impacted by the Governor’s most recent decision to move the county from high to extreme risk.
Award amounts granted to eligible businesses will be five-thousand dollars ($5,000), or a maximum of ten-thousand dollars ($10,000) if eligible business incurred expenses due to ‘infrastructure projects’ such as expanded outdoor dining options (e.g., pedlets, tents, tables, additional insurance costs, etc.). Expenses for ‘future’ infrastructure projects do not qualify for this grant.
The South Central Oregon Economic Development District (SCOEDD) will begin accepting applications on Thursday, May 20, 2021. During the first two (2) weeks of the grant period, priority will be given to businesses that did not receive prior grant funding from SCOEDD. After the first two (2) week period has ended (June 3, 2021), all businesses within Klamath County will be eligible for the remaining (if any) grant funds. The grant program will end the earlier of a) once all funds have been depleted, or b) December 31, 2021.
Betty Riley, Executive Director of SCOEDD, pointed out that, “…supporting small businesses is part of SCOEDD’s core mission and we hope this funding gets to those that have struggled over the past year.”
In order to qualify for this grant, Businesses must principally operate out of Klamath County and have fewer than 100 full-time employees. Additional eligibility requirements are outlined in the grant application. Applications for the grant program can be found on the SCOEDD website: www.scoedd.org.
