Grants for businesses impacted by the Governor's "freeze" expanded

The Klamath County Commissioners previously announced help for businesses impacted by the Governor’s “freeze” Executive Order restrictions. The County has received just over one million dollars from the State to distribute. The Board of Commissioners has asked South Central Oregon Economic Development District (SCOEDD) to distribute the funds via a grant program, prioritizing “freeze” impacted businesses.

The Board of Commissioners has asked South Central Oregon Economic Development District (SCOEDD) to distribute the funds via a grant program, prioritizing “freeze” impacted businesses.

Today [12/16/2020] the Klamath County Commissioners approved increasing the amount of economic relief funding for priority businesses that have had extended closure due to the "Freeze". For those impacted businesses the minimum award will be increased to $10,000.00 and a maximum award of $20,000.00 per business. All other businesses that apply will be eligible for a minimum of $5,000 and maximum of $10,000. Applications are still being accepted until December 23rd.

Impacted businesses are eligible if they can demonstrate a loss related to the “freeze”, have 100 employees or fewer and have not previously received Coronavirus Funds from the State (businesses who received Paycheck Protection Program funds are still eligible).

"We are committed to helping our local businesses weather this last storm, our businesses have sacrificed and suffered, we hope these funds provide relief. Meantime, I thank everyone for following the Public Health and C.D.C guidelines (social distancing, avoid groups, sanitize, stay home when sick, wear a face covering) to help reduce our case counts to get our schools and businesses open, to protect the vulnerable " said Commissioner Kelley Minty Morris.
